Back to School
First day back
By the time you are reading this, I will have already been at school setting things up. It is hard to believe that the new school year is starting next week with students. This week is filled with meetings and getting my classroom set up for the kids to come the following week.
Technically, our fifth graders come this Friday for a half-day of school. I know this seems early to everyone and it is. However, going back this early means several positives for the new year. I will get two extra week-long breaks throughout the year, and I will have some half-days spread throughout the year. Those breaks make going back early worth it.
I do have some prayer requests for this new school year.
Pray for my students that they will want to learn and be engaged in all that is done this year.
Pray for my stamina. I feel like I haven’t had much of a break this summer due to the certification process I am going through. Thankfully, I am almost done with that process!
Pray for my sleep… I haven’t slept well in months. (Yes, I know why and I am doing what I can to fix it.) I feel like I am going into the school year with a deficit in the area of rest. I also know that when I am weak, that is when God’s strength shows up!
Pray for my school in general, all the administration, teachers, office workers, counselors, resource officer, and cafeteria workers. Pray for peace and calm for the new year.
Pray that God’s light will shine through me each day! I am here for a reason and I don’t want to waste that at all.
Thank you all for praying for this new school year and praying for me. I can always tell when others are specifically praying for me. It shows up in the peace I have in each situation I am faced with. I heard the children’s pastor at my church say this today, “It is not that you will not go through hard times and life will be perfect. It is when you go through hard times, you will see how God is walking with you each step of the way.”
I might be walking into some unknown and crazy situations, but I also rest in the knowledge that God is walking me through them.
If you have loved ones who are going back to school soon, I’d love to be praying for them as well! Leave a comment below and let me know.

Praying that the Lord will be with you and your students every step of the way and may you be blessed in all areas of your life.
