Conviction
Justice, Mercy, Kindness, Humbleness
Over the weekend, I finished up studying Micah with my aunt Cindy. I love studying the Bible, and the daily readings and teaching continue to help me focus on the Lord. I love the reminder found in Micah 6:8: “He has told you, O Man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O Man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
On Sunday, my pastor taught about keeping our minds and hearts pure before the Lord. Living a life that is pleasing to the Lord. (That’s a very abbreviated version of his teaching.) I interpreted for a young lady in the children’s ministry during our second service, and the teaching was on the kings of Judah.
The kings of Judah were not pure in heart before the Lord, and their evil caused the people of Israel to be taken away by King Nebuchadnezzar. They were not living out what the Lord had required of them.
I walked away from both teachings feeling more convicted to stay in God’s word daily. To keep my eyes, ears, and mind from things that will not be of any value to my walk with the Lord.
In so many ways over the years, I have stuck with that conviction. Lest anyone think that I am perfect or have it all together when walking out my faith, it is a daily decision. Some days are better than others. I make the daily decision to fill my mind with the things of the Lord or the things of the world. We all have that daily decision.
I felt more convicted to continue making every effort to live in such a way that others will know that I love and fear the Lord. I want to do justly in my interactions with others. I want mercy and kindness to flow through my actions and words. I want to walk humbly with the Lord, knowing that He is the source of everything in my life.
I know that some people do not feel this same conviction. My hope and prayer are that I can be a good example for others to look towards. I pray that my love and fear of God never diminish as I walk the path God has set before me.
How does this look in your own life? Do you have the same conviction?
